About Krillion Space

Krillion Space is a free space trivia game that runs in your browser. It's built around one idea: every answer is an action. Get it right and your ship warps deeper into space; get it wrong and the hull takes the hit.

How it works

• The daily transmission. Every day at 00:00 UTC a new transmission arrives from the silent Orion gateways, the same for every player. On rarity days you name an answer and score by how rare it is among everyone's; on deduction days you narrow down the right signal in three tries.
• The voyage. Between transmissions you fly. Each stop asks a quick nav check about where you're going, and each right answer jumps you one stop deeper. The route follows real landmarks: the 17 stops of the Solar System, then the nearest stars, nebulae and black holes of the Milky Way, then other galaxies, with an uncharted world between each. Past Andromeda it goes on uncharted for ever.
• Your pilot. Pick a callsign and one of six archetypes, from the Pathfinder to the Renegade. Each changes how your ship flies on a voyage; the daily transmission stays the same for everyone.
• Kit, your copilot. An astronaut fox who reads the instruments, calls out crewmates in orbit and keeps you company in deep space.

Playing with others

• Ghost duels: race five questions against another pilot's recorded run, or a simulated pilot near your level. Signed-in pilots earn a duel rating.
• Crews: up to six pilots under one name, invited with a link or code. Crews share a leaderboard and enciphered crew transmissions that each crewmate decodes.
• Colonies: the first crew to reach an uncharted world can start a colony there. Crewmates who land at it later dock and repair.
• Leaderboards: today's and this week's transmissions, the deepest verified voyage, duel ratings and crews.

Real imagery

The planets and moons are wrapped in real spacecraft maps, Saturn's rings come from Cassini's measurements, and the nebulae and galaxies are telescope photos from Hubble, Spitzer and GALEX. Every source is listed on the image credits page.

Fair play

Answers are checked on the server, and the daily answer key never reaches your browser before you've played. Voyage depth on the leaderboards is verified on the server for signed-in pilots.
